Our Debacle with T-Mobile

» Posted by Howard at 3:57 AM · Leave a Comment [2]

We’ve been considering possibly switching cell phone carriers for awhile now. Aside from the fact that it’s $200/line to do so really has me rethinking this plan, so for now it’s just on hold. If it stays on hold for one more year then the contract will be up, problem solved.

I’m bringing this up because today I decided to contact via live chat one of the T-Mobile agents, and explain to them that my wife’s phone is terrible. Physically & signal-ly. It always tends to randomly restart, or freeze right in the middle of … doing nothing.

As for reception, that’s a joke. She might as well go with Cricket or some other pre-paid service non-contractual service. I haven’t been able to call her at work, ever. Sometimes even on her drive home, or if I am 5 feet away.

I attempted to explain to the chat agent that although a contract was signed is it right for me to pay a monthly fee for something I was promised, and [still] not receiving? And then to exit the said service that I’d have to pay even more? Are they taking notes from the IRS?

She told me that it isn’t unheard of that when these situations arise they may waive the cancellation fee. Honestly, it’s not really about the fee. I just want to be able to call my wife when I need to most, surely they can understand that.

What!? Taxes Are Due Today?

» Posted by Howard at 3:44 AM · Leave a Comment [0]

If you live in America, then you should know that today could be compared to the exact opposite of Christmas day. April 15th is the deadline for your Federal taxes to be mailed in. Yes, tons of fun. If you’re like the small percentage of people that receive a refund pay less taxes, than it’s just another day for you.

Thankfully we always do ours early – it’s better than struggling at the last minute and waiting at the post office. This year was a little different for us because of getting married and learning the new in’s & out’s of claiming a home and what not. But never-the-less our refund has come and gone.

Shazaam! Take That Furniture Payment!

» Posted by Howard at 1:29 PM · Leave a Comment [0]

For those of you that don’t care, today is different. But Howard it feels the same to me! Yes, it is in a way. What I mean is today I will wake up, come to work, hurry home, sleep, and eat dinner with my wife while judging & laughing at those so-called “Top Models”.

Although, somewhere in between all of that I will sit on my couch. Yes, that olive green one that we happen to stumble into at the store and knew that very second we HAD to own it … and now we do. That’s right! Yesterday the remaining kazillion dollars we owed on the “move-in” furniture was inevitably paid off early.

I’m relieved to be done with this and move on to the next couple of planned purchases we have. There is a little self-high, a sense of accomplishment if you will, when you quit messing around with puny debt and just throw down the cash.

Marla Singer is Out to Destroy You

» Posted by Howard at 3:01 PM · Leave a Comment [12]

This is Marla, named after the character from “Fight Club”. Born on February 10, 2008. Our little seven pound ball of evil that sleeps all day, and unleashes her furry at night. She looks all cuddly & cute, but in reality Ms. Singer here is very possessive and pretty much runs the household.

Her favorite activities include sleeping in clothes fresh out of the dryer, taking up the entire bed, hording her food & bones in a secret location, stealing our socks, and pretending to be my best friend when I have human food.

“Marla … the little scratch on the roof of your mouth that would heal if only you could stop tonguing it, but you can’t.”

Whenever we head outside or to the dog park she is the explorer-type and doesn’t care to socialize with other dogs except with Stanley, a white male version of her that gets crazy excited to see her. Marla hates going near any kind of water, but loves playing Queen of the Hill – there is a small hill at the park where she’ll stand and chase off every dog that tries to come near it.

Highest I’ve Ever Bowled, I think

» Posted by Howard at 8:02 PM · Leave a Comment [0]

Another guy’s night out. Monday. That means $1.25/game at our local bowling alley. The one time I leave the video camera at home we see a wreck where a mini-van drove up onto a hill and perfectly crashed into a stone sign. The sign was an “H”-shape, and they nailed it right in the middle. Ugh, I am a terrible vlogger. I need a camera that I can just keep in my pocket at all times.

Not to mention that we enter, pay for our 7 games, and BAM! The first game we finished was the highest I’ve ever bowled in my life. 226. Not bad for using the house ball & shoes. After that it was all downhill, but we won’t get into all of that. Just kiddin’ I was averaging around 140~.

Luckily Mike was able to snap a shot of the scoreboard before his our-so-high-tech cell phone died.

You Found a Secret Video While Farming

» Posted by Howard at 8:16 AM · Leave a Comment [0]

Perfect weather weekend? Pfft. I came home from work to a dark, gray sky and the sound of thunder. The day started off pretty slow, but the sun started to creep out, so we headed to Grandma Skippy’s house to handle the yardwork. While I was outside raking up leave and getting those annoying pieces of dirt & grass in my shoe Summer filmed this video for me to find.

Hmm, you can barely hear the music in the video. It seemed pretty loud when I was editing it.

Mr. & Mrs. Oreo Dunker

» Posted by Howard at 1:39 PM · Leave a Comment [0]

For the past couple of weeks, maybe even months Oreos and milk has been the dessert of choice for us. Sometimes I can’t wait to just be done with dinner so I can sit and enjoy a few cookies with Summer.

I don’t really care for snacks that are hard, crunchy – feels like I am going to break my teeth. Every now and then I go a little too far though. I try to hold the Oreo at the very tip and submerge the entire treat into the milk. What usually ends up happening is the cookie breaks, falls to the bottom of my glass, and then I have to chug the milk to retrieve it.

It’s also a plus that our dogs aren’t allowed to have any, you know, the whole chocolate thing. Finally, more for me!

A Stroll Through the Art Festival

» Posted by Howard at 2:17 AM · Leave a Comment [0]

A couple of weekends ago Summer and I decided to hit up the local art festival. We really enjoy going to things like this – festivals and what not. It’s nice walking around hand-in-hand with my wife exploring a bunch of new things, people watching, and creating memories. We didn’t bring the camera out of respect because we know some artists don’t like that.

Getting there was weird because you were not allowed to park at the location. We ended up driving to a mall that is further away, and taking a bus to the event. We lucked out and got a front row spot, so that saved us like a mile of walking. Taking the bus is always a hoot – people talk about the strangest things. I also like how 99% of humans don’t know how to exit a bus properly so when we come to our stop it’s funny to see them ALL stand at once and try to rush out.

I purchased our tickets, and we went right in. No purse check!? Dang, we could have brought snacks. Oh well. We didn’t have a map or know where to go so we just went wherever the pathway took us. There are a couple of tents and artists that stuck out to us, one being a lady from California that made leather-bound journals. The kind used in Indiana Jones that Summer loves. Of course we snagged her business card.

Both of us loved this lady’s oil paintings. Her name is Georgia and she has a series of pier/beach/children’s artwork that we want to own. We’re not sure of the prices, but I’m sure their rather high because we agree her work is amazing!

One guy made sculptures, a giant banana and table, out of smashed metal bottle caps. I heard him tell someone that most caps are donated to him, but he flattens them all himself.

Near the end of the walk we discovered a tent full of what looked like photographs, but when we came closer we noticed that they were paintings. No way! Yep, there was even a sign saying, “Don’t be fooled! These are hand-painted.”

All in all it was an awesome day, especially when Summer told me that the $20 for tickets was well worth the trip and time we spent together.

Hey Everybody, It’s Baby Smiley

» Posted by Howard at 7:22 PM · Leave a Comment [1]

Summer was cruisin’ YouTube, watching make-up tutorials and came across this girl, Gloria a.k.a. Baby Smiley. The few videos that we did watch are hilarious! I think it’s funny how she uses stereotypes to her advantage. If you’re bored and get a chance check out her channel.

We Reached 1,000 Visitors & PR 2

» Posted by Howard at 12:21 PM · Leave a Comment [0]

As of today we have finally hit 1,000 unique visitors. Of course we’ve had more than that because I didn’t have a statistic system in place when we first launched our site, but those weren’t recorded so they don’t count.

Whoever is coming to our site, and reading our post we appreciate your time. Hopefully you’ll continue to visit as we continue to learn & do more so we can effectively blog & make some more videos.

We’ve made it easier to become involved, just check out the sidebar. Also you can now comment on posts … check under the title. Leave your feedback.

It has also been brought to my attention that our website also has a pagerank of 2 out of a 10 scale. Our estimated value is $270, not that I ever plan to sell this site – that makes no sense. Who knows … maybe we’ll get some sponsors and use the funds to better the site and content.
