Unknown to me there is a section of our community where a committee continually preserves that “ol’ rustic everyone-knows-everyone” small town charm, and because of this there are many (mostly child-oriented) events that take place in order to bring the people together. The annual Christmas tree lighting is one of them.

Now it’s no Rockafella Center, but still nice to visit on a cold night. I must say it was a lot bigger than I expected, which is good except it took us a little while to find a parking spot. Once we did Summer and I headed over to see what we could get into. Turns out, not much.

We don’t really know anyone, nor that involved in the school  (mainly because we don’t have kids & aren’t part of the P.T.A.), but we did spot our optometrist while watching the cheerleaders perform their routine. There were tables for kids to create “letters for Santa”, a middle-school choir, holiday carolers at the entrance, and the longest line I’ve ever seen to sit on Santa’s lap.

Chick-Fil-A had a tent set up and was distributing – what I thought was free – food, but they were charging a little more than full price. In retrospect I suppose they were trying to raise money, but I still had some leftover turkey at home with my name on it that I didn’t want to go to waste, so I actually declined me a chicken sandwich. I’ll survive.

We just couldn’t do without our coffee so since it was close by we swung by Starbucks and tried some new drinks, gingerbread latte & caramel brulee latte for Summer. Maybe next year we’ll make it on time.

Sometimes when you look back on certain things in life you may think “why the heck did I do that?” Yes, this is one of those times.

Last week about 30 minutes before I was scheduled to leave work a different department got busy, and so I told one of my co-workers that I would just finished up the project we were working on alone since he had to go help out. This particular job isn’t my responsibility, but I usually assist just because.

Basically you simply have log these parts into the computer and then throw them on the corresponding shelves inside of this fenced-in area. Easy. Except that the bolts that hold the gate onto this fence protrude out 1/2 inch further than needed. So I assume it was only a matter of time before I would run my lower shin into it. Not scrape it like the Titanic hit the iceberg, but more of a head on type collision.

The next day Summer demanded that I tell someone resulting in HR telling me I had to go to the doctor (which they paid for). I did end up getting a tetanus shot – which doesn’t hurt, but my arm feels sore like I’ve been lifting weights all day. The doctor numbed the injury and cut off the top layer (scab) of skin and bandaged me all up.

The wound is heeling great & I’ll be out running soon enough, but I do think back and decided well … that’s the last time I help out someone at work. Just kiddin’.

I have a doctor’s appointment today and that means I only have to be at work for half a day! I’ve been having trouble breathing lately so I’m hoping this doctor will know what’s wrong with me and fix the problem. Other than that I’m perfectly fine! Last week I flew to Dallas for work and OMG was it so incredibly sad. I missed Howard the entire time I was up there. I had a little polar bear to snuggle with but that just wasn’t enough. :( Then I come back home to find out he stole my pillow while I was gone!!

Anyway, this week will be crazy for the both of us. Wednesday is my job’s Thanksgiving party and I volunteered to bring the drinks, which I have yet to pick up. Thursday is, of course, Thanksgiving Day with the family. This means lots of footage for Howard to convert into a nice YouTube video for everyone. :D Then *drum roll* BLACK FRIDAY!!! I’m not sure if there are any good deals our right now for us to hunt down, but I know we will be shopping around to see what we can find. I heard Target and Walmart are starting at midnight this year and I think that is insane! I will not be waiting in line that early for the new Zelda game. Speaking of which!!! I want that game so bad! You have no idea!! Actually I want the special edition one with the gold Wii remote!!! Like this…

Now, I know it costs around $70 but if I sit in line at Wal-mart I can get it for $60! Ugh, I cannot justify spending that much on a game. I’m sorry. I’m just dreaming. This will never happen. Haha.

So, after Friday is Saturday, right? Well, Saturday is my Thanksgiving Day. I usually make most of the main side dishes along with a huge turkey and desserts. (Side note: Right now the gerbils just kicked their bedding out of their cage. -.-) As you can see my week is packed with To-Do lists and shopping. Sunday is my time to rest but I’m thinking we will probably do some more shopping that day.
