Runnin’ in Circles

When the new year started I was wondering what I’d get myself into. It just so happens to be running. I used to love running, and then it just kind of dropped off my radar. I tried here and there to get back into, but for some weird Forrest Gump reason about a week ago I told Summer, “I’m am going to start running, for real.”
We used to have a treadmill that her mom generously let us have, but after much dis-assembly I diagnosed that it needed a new motor which would have cost the price of a new treadmill. We may look into getting a new one, just so we can run any time we want (rain, shine, at night, etc.), but for now I go to a local park that’s on the way home from work. Hardly, if any at all, people & has a mixture of hills, turns, pavement, and dirt. Perfect spot to run my 5K.
So far it’s been great! I feel good throughout the day, and don’t drag out of bed like usual. I feel more active & accomplished, and so do the dogs. Yep, even they’re coming. I don’t run with them, but 1 day out of the week I’ve been taking them for a one lap (1.3 miles) walk around the track. Ol’ Marla & Sookie seem to enjoy themselves with all the new smells and experiences.
I’m not planning on being some hardcore Iron-man athlete, but just something every now and then to get my blood flowing. I’m no spring chicken, and it’s about that age to set some time aside for things like this.
