Another great weekend

As much as we love staying inside on a rainy day, and being lazy, there is something about a crisp, sunny day that makes us want to just be outside.
I would love to say my Saturday started with a great game of tennis, but it didn’t. Work as usual, then I came home to yet another awesome breakfast, but something was different. Syrup-less waffles! (The only thing we wrote down on our grocery board, and I forgot it at the store.)
Finally tennis time. No one was at the courts, and the clouds were blocking the sun. Thumbs up, which is what some weird Asian fellow did while awkwardly watching us play. Although we did continue to play through the light rain drizzle the ground was getting slippery so we packed it up and headed to a new hamburger joint that we kept hearing about: Five Guys Burgers & Fries. Was it good? It was so-so, and $16 for a crowded little diner and a mediocre burger that I could easily replicate at home.
We celebrated Sunday with another early morning movie, Legion. We arrived a little earlier than usual, so we took some time to sit in the car and read, which means I scanned through the newspaper ads and Summer pulled out one of the many books she carries around. Once inside we did our traditional $6.50 popcorn ordering, but we were more prepared this time. Energy drinks, and a large purse. 2 things I have discovered that are required for a good theater experience.
Before the start of the movie, I ran to get the tub refilled. Oh lord, was I behind the strangest “mobster”-looking guy I’ve ever seen. Long, Dracula-like fingernails, those super long & pointy Euro-style boots, pinstriped pants complete with suspenders, black long sleeve button-down, a goatee that grew out and then curled back around under his chin, Gucci sunglasses (in the theater?), a rather thick, and a gold man pinky ring. Not to mention this guy couldn’t have weighed more than 120 lbs.
Yesterday, it was definitely time for Sookie to get hosed down, but she is getting too big for the bath tub. Outside we went. I learned very quickly that she doesn’t enjoy the spray nozzle … AT ALL. In fact, I had to take it off completely and just soak her with the water. I wanted to get some pictures, but didn’t want to risk getting the camera all wet as well, but Sookie looks about 15 lbs lighter when wet, and with all that hair it took her about 2 hours to dry. Finally I just zapped her with the blow dryer, which she is starting to like, and brushed her hair with her new comb. Finished with a treat for her, and she was one happy pup!
